What are you trying to accomplish?

Most people arrive knowing the outcome they want and not the shape of the answer. That is the normal starting point, and usually the more useful one.

How we think

A client may know exactly what they need. Or they may only know what they are trying to accomplish. We are built for both, and the second is the harder and more valuable engagement.

So the first conversation is about the problem rather than the deliverable. What is happening now, why it is happening, what the desired outcome looks like, what constraints are real, and — often the most useful answer — what should not be built at all.

Understand. Think. Design. Build. Improve.

What we can build together

Capability rather than a catalogue. Most engagements begin in one of these and grow into others.

How we hold ourselves to it

We are a young company, so we will not show you a wall of client logos. What we can show you is the standard we apply to our own work, which is a fact rather than a claim.

This site enforces its own budgets in continuous integration. Colour contrast is asserted for every design token in both themes. Accessibility is checked three ways, because automation only catches about a third of real problems. A failing budget fails the build, because a budget that only warns is not a budget.

We publish our reasoning too, including the parts that went wrong — a test that checked the wrong layer, a rule we wrote down and did not implement. That is the part a competitor cannot copy.

How we work

The same shape whether the engagement is a fortnight or a year.

  1. 01

    Understand

The problem, the constraints, and what is actually at stake if nothing changes.

  2. 02

    Think

What should exist. Often, what should not.

  3. 03

    Design

The experience and the architecture, together rather than in sequence.

  4. 04

    Build

Small, tested, and reviewable. Nothing unvalidated reaches production.

  5. 05

    Improve

Measure, learn, and hand over something you can maintain without us.

The Sechaba Initiative

Sechaba means nation, community, people. It is also the name of the founder's father, Prof. Sechaba Mahlomaholo, whose scholarship is the reasoning underneath how this company works.

The Initiative develops young South Africans into people who can think, build and solve. The ambition is capability, not literacy — being able to build the future rather than operate it.
